Similar to a kitchen, a bathroom must deliver so much in terms of functionality. Furthermore, it is a space that we retreat to for relaxation and rejuvenation so a beautiful aesthetic is important to create a restful ambience. Designing a bathroom firstly centres around how the client and their family utilise the space. Every client will have different priorities to be considered and in addition, the function of the room varies depending on whether it is the main bathroom, an ensuite or a powder room.

Bathroom design firstly involves 2D spatial planning to create a layout that performs for everyone using the space. Often several layouts are drawn to allow the client to select the best layout for their needs. Special attention is given to the view upon the entrance (not the toilet!), adequate space around fittings and ensuring there is a place for everything (towel rails and toilet roll holders included).

Mood boards are utilised to explore the design style and character of the space and ensure it meets the client’s wishes. We then proceed to the selection of all materials ranging from tiles to taps to lights and everything in between. Wall elevations are drawn to communicate the design with all trades involved and ensure any problems are identified at this planning stage. 3D modelling mimics the textures and finishes and allows a virtual walk through the space prior to construction.
